5 Fantasy Sleepers Following 3 Preseason Games

We have chosen five new sleepers for your consideration after three preseason games.

1. Eddie Lacy, Green Bay Packers running back

Despite not being the first running back drafted, he should be near the top of fantasy drafts. Lacy’s best season as an Alabama running back yet, with 1,322 yards and 17 touchdowns. Despite his small stature, the 5-foot-11, 230-pound running back is expected to play a significant role in Green Bay’s pass-heavy offense.

Coach Mike McCarthy only needs to say that Lacy must earn his carries while DuJuan Harris is the official starter. “I think we all know Eddie Lacy will be the starter at halfback,” Green Bay Press-Gazette reporter Mike Vandermause said last week.

2. Giovani Bernard, Cincinnati Bengals running back

On HBO’s “Hard Knocks,” you can see Bernard’s speed as well as the importance of what he can do for Cincinnati’s offense this season. BenJarvus Green-Ellis is expected to see a lot of action this year, but his receiving yardage was down from 104 last year. Bernard will be useful in PPR leagues for Andy Dalton, who needs more than just A.J. Green.

Green-Ellis will not get another 278 carries from Bernard, the new change-of-pace back. Fantasy football owners who believe the Bengals are a sleeper should consider Bernard as a flex option.

3. David Wilson, RB, Giants

Andre Brown’s command of the running game, combined with David Wilson’s strong finish to the 2012 season, will lead many to believe he is the team’s No. 2 running back. Wilson, on the other hand, is a dangerous NFL weapon, scoring touchdowns of 40 and 50 yards or more whenever he finds a crease.

The Giants will find it difficult to keep the ball out of his hands after such a promising start. We expect between 15 and 20 players to be available, with 1,300 to 1,400 rushing yards, 400 to 500 receiving yards, and 13 or more touchdowns.

4. Daryl Richardson, Rams running back

Working running back Steven Jackson has gone ten years without wearing horns on his helmet. As a result, I believe Richardson will be asked to step in. Despite his size and weight (he’s 5-10 and 196 pounds), Richardson is an explosive runner who should get the majority of the Rams’ carries. He’s an excellent choice at a reasonable price.

5. Dwayne Bowe of the Kansas City Chiefs

Bowe’s name is well-known among fantasy football players. Bowe will, however, be receiving the ball from an experienced and competent quarterback for the first time in his career.

Alex Smith’s completion percentage has steadily increased over the last three seasons. Bowe will have a breakout season if Andy Reid’s pass-happy offense can keep him healthy.
